Community Researchers Job Posting


We are currently hiring eight community researchers to conduct survey interviews with residents in three neighborhoods, including Broadview Chinatown, Crescent Town, and Central Riverdale.  This will involve contacting residents, filling in a questionnaire with respondents and recording their answers regarding their individual experiences of informal economy activities. Survey interviews will be conducted in English, Bengali, Somali and Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese and other). Closing date is Monday, August 8, 2011. Click here for the job posting.

The Toronto East Local immigration Partnership was successful in securing funding to undertake, alongside its community partners, a community-based research project investigating the informal economy and its relationship to the social determinants of health. We are recruiting for three short-term, part-time positions,
Research Lead, Research Coordinator and Research Assistant.

January 2011 Partnership Council Meeting

This post includes the agenda and minutes of the January Partnership Council meeting. The discussions included updates on possible Childcare Inititatives, an update on the parent orientation workshops, the workplan for the Informal Settlement Work Group and the agenda for the proposed frontline staff meeting being organized for March.
The Pathways for Economic Class newcomers was also presented.

October 2010 Partnership Council Meeting

This post includes the agenda, presentation and minutes of the council meeting of the October 2010 Partnership Council meeting.  This meeting included a discussion of the new workgroups - reorganized based on the findings of the Final report.  Agencies re-committed to the process and joined the new workgroups.  There was also discussion of the City-Wide LIP project and a first draft of the Newcomer Pathways was distributed.

June 2010 Partnership Council Meeting

Documents for the sixth Partnership Council meeting include the agenda, Power Point presentation, May 2010 meeting minutes and an outline for our final report.  At our June meeting, the Partnership Council discussed agency collaboration - what it means, the various types and levels of collaboration. Members participated in an exercise which allowed them to define how they would like to collaborate with others on a selection of 16 tasks/initiatives. Members were asked to indicate the level of collaboration they are currently working in (red sticker) and the level of collaboration they wish to work in (blue sticker).  Here is the summary and the photos of the exercise. May 2010 Partnership Council Meeting

Documents for the fifth Partnership Council meeting include the April 2010 minutes, the meeting agenda, powerpoint presentation and a Service Provider Survey.  The survey will help identify service capacity and service gaps.  The focus of discussion for this meeting was defining 'coordination of services' between agencies. The Council discussed the various levels of coordination from 'awareness' of each other's programs to 'collaboration' of programs.
